At the 2010 June rendezvous we will be celebrating the history of our favorite living mountain man, Johnny Keeling, and his family history at the Lake Scott, El Quartelejo indian ruins and surrounding historical sites on the high plains of western Kansas just north of Scott City, Ks. This is a great area, come walk where the indians lived, find arrowheads, and most of all have a good time with good people! Each campsite medallion will include an arrowhead ! Please read the entire page top to bottom, there is a contact/rsvp form at the bottom of the page. Some events during the rendezvous check back often for updates. Saturday there will be a free drawing for all paid campers for a combination - fire pit/dutch oven pit !! There will be a free arrowhead hunting area for all paid campers, campers kids and boy scouts. Yes, many arrowheads will be there! We are currently putting shooting and other adult events together. Friday, Saturday and Sunday: Knife and hatchet throwing area available. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. All day - kids arrowhead and possibles hunting area 10:00AM Shooting range, steel targets, black powder rifles and pistols only (there is an observation spot to watch shooting from and throwing events from) This is a non sanctioned event, all shooters must sign a liability release. 12:00AM Cannon shoot (flour only, cannons must be pre approved) 1:00 Knife and hatchet throw (there is an observation spot to watch shooting from and throwing events from)This is a non sanctioned event, all shooters must sign a liability release. 6:00 PM Free feed for rendezvous campers !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

______________________________________________________________Aron Percival - Booshway Don Murrell - Event organizer ______________________________________________________________ Rendezvous information ( Special note) Although you must pass through Lake Scott park in order to get to the El Quartelejo rendezvous, it is not on Kansas Department of wildlife and parks land. It is located on land adjoining the park. (Boy scout camp) If you plan on going directly to and from the rendezvous then you do not have to pay state park fees. HOWEVER, if you go anywhere on state park other than the rendezvous then you take the chance of being ticketed by KDWP unless you purchase a daily park pass or have a yearly pass. We will have both primitive and non primitive camp areas. (they will be separate) This is a non sanctioned event, all campers, shooters and trhowers must sign a liability release. - Camp fee Primitive and non $20.00 (free feed on saturday) - Visitors welcome (free) Saturday 10 am to 6 pm. Primitive clothes are required after 6 pm. NO PETS allowed on site. Visitors at any other time must check in. - Water and wood are available. - Modern camp areas including electrical and water are available in the KDWP Lake Scott park. (Approx. 1/2 mile away) Must pay KDWP fees. - The park charges an entrance fee unless you have a yearly kdwp tag. HOWEVER, if you are entering the rendezvous area only (boy scout camp) and do not plan on going into the rest of the park there is no fee. - Traders and blanket traders welcome, no fee unless camping, then only rendezvous camp fee applies. - Primitive camp: Keep everything modern covered or out of site. - No loaded firearms in camp. Shooting area is provided. Shooting allowed at specific time only. - PETS on leash at all times. - Approved above ground fire pits only. Each fire pit must be accompanied by a fire extinguisher or primitive water bucket. Small fires only, no white man fires. Fires must be completely doused when campsite retires. - There is a community fire pit in the center of camp available at all times, there are also loaners available, if you do not have a pit do not worry! - Early setup (June 3rd) permitted _______________________________________________________________ Please use the contact form below for questions or to RSVP.
